The East Sprague Business District is situated at the heart of the East Central neighborhood on a regional transportation route. Located within the district are 35 restaurants, 10 coffee shops, antique stores, attorney and dentist offices, sewing/quilting and craft stores, pet shop, and international markets.

"Vibrant Communities" Program in Spokane
SPOKANE, WA - July 8, 2009 - Sterling Savings has donated $5,000 towards Impact Capital's Vibrant Communities Program in Spokane. "Receiving financial support from a respectable stakeholder like Sterling Savings Bank reinforces Impact Capital's position on the importance of helping to build vibrant communities," said Heyward Watson, the CEO of Impact Capital.
Vice President and Community Development Manager of Sterling Savings Bank, Ray Mooney stated, "Impact Capital's leadership and support to revitalize Spokane's East Sprague devitalized business district is only one of the many projects improving communities across Washington State. Impact Capital deserves our support."
Sterling Savings Bank and Impact Capital share a passion for community development projects that improve the lives of those they serve. Sterling is a pioneer of community support not only through their continued sponsorship of "Vibrant Communities" and numerous other organizations and activities, but also through their high level of employee volunteerism, and the provision of their expertise to nonprofit organizations and first time home buyers in the community.
Impact Capital helps community partners realize their own vision for their neighborhoods. The Vibrant Communities project's goal is to build capacity for community development with stakeholders to ensure the work continues long into the future. "Impact Capital's dedication to improving and sustaining communities, combined with Spokane's community members and local businesses has produced sustainable and reputable results in our communities," said Spokane Mayor Mary Verner.
"Vibrant Communities is more than affordable housing, it also requires collaboration with key stakeholders and partners to sustain program that improve the quality of life for community residents," stated Tracy Reich, Senior Program Officer at Impact Capital. Impact Capital will focus on targeting investments into a small geographic area over several years. The program builds strategic partnerships with the City of Spokane, neighborhood stakeholders, and SNAP to provide a full range of community development services to targeted districts in the East Central neighborhood.

Keystone International Arts Festival at Sprague & Pittsburg

The Keystone International Arts district presents a festival of Local artisans, musicians and entertainers with Ethnic vendors, Food vendors, Handicrafts and local Community groups. Located on Pittsburg Street south side of Sprague Ave (1800 block) in front of the new International mural. Denise Cerreta, founder and visionary of One World Everybody Eats in Salt Lake City will be present to share her vision for the upcoming opening of One World Spokane Organic Community Kitchen at 1804 E Sprague and Organic Community Garden on 1st Ave.
